RETIRED OFFICERS ORGANIZATION
ENDORSES CANDIDATES FOR
DISTRICT ATTORNEY, COUNTY EXECUTIVE

Says Astorino and Schorr are
Most Qualified to Lead Westchester County

White Plains, NY- October 13, 2009...The Westchester County Police Retired Officers announced today their endorsements of Rob Astorino for Westchester County Executive and Dan Schorr for Westchester District Attorney.

The group, comprised of retired County Police officers, cited problems such as high property taxes, wasteful government spending, rising crime, and lenient plea bargains to violent criminals as this year's most significant election issues.

"Westchester is headed in the wrong direction, and if we don't elect new leaders to reverse the questionable policies of the incumbent county executive and district attorney, we will continue to see our retirees, family, and friends suffer as a result," said Steve Hoey, President of the Westchester County Police Retired Officers.

He continued, "Rob Astorino will ensure that Westchester will no longer have the dubious distinction of having the highest property taxes in the nation. He will fight to streamline government and make Westchester affordable for the middle class again."

"Dan Schorr knows what it means to be a prosecutor. He has the experience and understanding to prosecute tough cases and keep Westchester residents safe. He will put an end to the easy plea bargains and restore trust between the DA's office and law enforcement," Mr. Hoey concluded.

"I am grateful for the support of the retired police officers of Westchester County," Mr. Astorino said. "Too many of these officers and their families have been forced out of Westchester in recent years by sky-high property taxes. As county executive, my first priority will be cutting taxes so that police officers, teachers, hospital workers and other vital service providers can afford to live and retire in the county they have devoted their lives to serving."

"I'm honored to be endorsed by the retired police officers of Westchester County," said Mr. Schorr. "I will work with law enforcement to prevent crime and prosecute tough cases to keep violent criminals behind bars. Our police need a partner and a leader in the DA's office, and I am proud to have their trust and support."
