STATEMENT BY ROB ASTORINO ON THE
WESTCHESTER STATE OF THE COUNTY ADDRESS

 

"Mr. Spano called Westchester residents 'clueless' tonight for not understanding what his government is up to.

"He said county government may 'seem big and amorphous' to the average person-then incredibly called himself a fiscal conservative.

"He attacked those who want to rethink county government, saying it's 'our values' that need rethinking, not our government.  

"These are remarkable statements. Westchester residents are not clueless.  We know exactly what's going on. We know we pay the highest taxes in America. We know our $1.9 billion budget is completely out of line-bigger than the budgets of 87 nations! We know big, amorphous government when we see it, and our values are just fine. The problem lies not with the people of Westchester, Mr. Spano, but with its leadership.  

"Tonight's speech showed how out of touch Mr. Spano has become. Twelve years is enough. It's time for change in Westchester.
