Bipartisan Support for Housing Settlement Appeal

I want to encourage you to read an opinion article that was written by former Democratic Legislator Martin Rogowsky and was recently published in the Journal News.

Court Plain Wrong in Ruling on Affordable Housing

Mr. Rogowsky was one of the five legislators who voted against the settlement agreement in 2009.  In his article, Mr. Rogowsky supports my administration’s decision to appeal a recent federal court ruling that we both agree is as flawed as some of the provisions in the original settlement.

Legal issues aside, it is important that everyone realize that we are well ahead of schedule in complying with the most important provision in the settlement: the actual building of housing units.  It is refreshing that Mr. Rogowsky, a Democrat, has placed his party affiliation aside to join me in defending Westchester taxpayers from an unnecessary and radical federal government overreach.
