Rob believes a healthy balance can and must be achieved between protecting our natural resources, our economy and our pocketbooks.
As Westchester County Executive, Rob was twice endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters for his strong record in protecting the environment. Under his leadership, Westchester:
Increased solar panel usage and recycling to record rates
Opened the Household Material Recovery Facility that allows for the disposal and recycling of household hazardous waste like car tires, pesticides, pool chemicals, flammable liquids and electronics
Preserved hundreds of acres of open space at Stuart’s Farm and the Teatown Reservation
Signed into law Toxic Toy legislation
Launched the River Rescue program, a public-private partnership to engage volunteers in removing debris from The Bronx River
As Governor, Rob would seek to continue to protect our environment while protecting taxpayers and our economy. One way he would do that is by making New York a leader in the production of natural gas, solar, wind and hydropower energy sources, and maintaining our nuclear energy capacity.
Rob knows a big part of what makes New York State so special is our natural environment — from Niagara Falls to Montauk Point, from the Finger Lakes to Pelham Bay Park, from the Adirondacks to the Catskills and all points in between — and he will not only protect it, but strengthen it.
